Publication gate
Every origin–destination pair with a parseable slug renders. Indexing is narrower. A page is index,follow only when all of the following hold:
- ACS 2024 1-year estimate is present (not N/X).
- 90% margin of error is present.
- Reverse-direction estimate is present.
- State-centroid straight-line miles can be computed from TIGER centroids (not driving miles).
- At least five unique facts can be stated on the page.
- Estimate ≥ 5,000 and MOE ≤ 50% of the estimate — so a 400-person cell with a 400-person MOE cannot become a ranking URL.
Current indexed corridor count: 368. Company records remain noindex. State mover listings remain noindex because they are a filtered cache, not the search universe.
What the gate actually excludes
In the current vintage, 2,096 pairs satisfy conditions 1–5. Of those, 368 also clear condition 6 and are indexed. The estimate floor does almost all of the work: 341 pairs fail on volume alone, only 10 clear 5,000 but fail the relative-MOE ceiling, and 1,377 fail both. The MOE ceiling is kept as a published floor for the rare large-but-noisy cell, not as a claim that it filters heavily. These counts are computed from the ingested table at build time, so the sentence stays true when a new vintage is promoted.
Every indexed corridor also carries a per-pair context layer — competition ranks within each state’s flows and among all eligible pairs, share of the state total, the 90% interval, a difference-of-estimates test on the net direction, and land-border adjacency — so that two corridor pages never differ only in the numbers substituted into one template.
Metro pages, fuel, tolls, and price brackets are not generated. Those series are not in the ingested files.
