Being in the census file means a record exists. It does not, by itself, tell you the company is currently authorized for the shipment you have.
Three layers people conflate
Identity: the USDOT record. Authority: MC/FF dockets and their current status. Safety rating: an official designation when present, otherwise not available.
IMMERVEIL shows census-file fields and sends you to FMCSA to verify what is current. That split is deliberate.
